Downton Abbey Refreshments - Cucumber Punch & Scones

Pin It!
There's a virus spreading like wildfire -
it's DOWNTONABBEYITIS!
Have you been infected?
I admit it - I have.

Since I'm the only female in the house
{& my guys couldn't care less}
I invited some girlfriends over
to watch a recent episode with me.

Of course, we enjoyed some
English-inspired refreshments.
I tried my hand at making some English scones
& {instead of cucumber sandwiches}
cucumber punch - which is my favorite!

Here's the recipe . . .

Cucumber Punch
  • 2 liters of lemon-lime soda {I use diet}
  • 12 oz. frozen limeade concentrate {undiluted}
  • 3 drops almond extract
  • 1 cucumber, peeled
  • maraschino cherries, drained
  • lots of crushed ice
Slice cucumber & put half in a blender with some of the limeade concentrate & blend. Add with the soda,  remainder of the limeade, almond extract, cherries, & ice. Use some of the sliced cucumbers for garnishment.

If so, who's your favorite character?

    1. Good to hear from you, Valerie. Let me know how you like it if you watch. There is something "icky" you have to get through in the very first episode.

      Warmly, Michelle

  2. I am an Abbey Addict!! Just ordered the Downton Abbey Cookbook from my local library - can't wait to see what is there. I just love the show! Really love all of the characters but always laugh at Maggie Smith's character. Season 3 comes out on DVD on the 29th - can't wait.

    1. Hello Blog Friend, Thank you for stopping by & leaving a comment. So glad to find out you're a fellow addict. I also love "Granny" & USUALLY agree with her - except when she thought Sir Antony should leave Edith at the altar! WHAT?! BTW, I stopped by your blog. I wish you well in your recovery.

      Warmly, Michelle

  5. Love Downton Abbey. I didn't like Mary at first, but she has grown on me. Their love story has been so much fun to follow. Cucumber punch - that is a new one for me to hear about. Maybe I will try it.

    1. Thank you for stopping by Dawn. I think Matthew has brought out the best in Mary. I'm also loving their story! I have a confession to make - I bought the DVD at Costco & have finished watching all of season 3! WHAT?! I'm obsessive that way about chocolate too!

      Warmly, Michelle
      PS - You have some crazy surprises waiting for you on D.A.!

  8. Michelle, it was so great to meet you tonight. I love your blog. I am more than slightly addicted to Downton. I had never watched an episode until the end of January and I watched all 3 seasons in 3 days. Thankfully I have an understanding husband who just rolled with it so I could finish them.

    I LOVE Cora and I love Anna. I love them all but they're my favorites.
