A Terrific Trunk or Treat!

Pin It!
JINKIES! Trunk or Treat was so much fun & wildly successful. Honey & I had a great time as Shaggy & Daphne from Scooby Doo. {PS - If I've ever wondered if I should dye my hair red, that question has been definitively answered! #HeckNO}
I turned our boring old Suburban {named Red Boy} into The MYSTERY MACHINE with craft paper from Zurchers. The weather was a little damp, so it looks a little more wrinkled in the photos than it would have been otherwise.

There were SO many kids at the trunk or treat & we ran out of candy even though we brought A LOT!

There were so many awesome cars & costumes. I was impressed by this Harry Potter trunk - complete with a "brick" 9 3/4 platform & floating candles.  A wizard passed out the candy.
One impressive display had lots of lights & lanterns. When I asked about the power source, the creator said she uses a small generator - which didn't make any noise at all. Brilliant!

It was chilly, so some trunks featured treats other than candy - like hot cocoa. Mmmm!

Another fun way to make your trunk stand out is to have music or sound effects. We had the theme music from Scooby Doo. How about you? Do you have any tips for a fantastic Trunk or Treat?

  1. This is amazing!!!! My 3 year old will have a scooby birthday party in a week. I have searched everywhere for someone who has one I can get them to drive by. No luck. I think I will do this to our suv. I'm so impressed!!!! Do you know how many feet of paper it took?

    1. Thank you for taking the time to leave your sweet comment! I can't remember how many feet, but I only covered one side of the car. So I measured how long my SUV is & purchased accordingly. Good luck!

  3. Your Mystery Machine looks amazing.
    What colors did you use for The Mystery Machine? If you don't mind me asking. My daughter really wants us to do this for her schools trunk or treat and I don't want to disappoint.

    1. Thank you for your sweet comment. I got my paper from the Zurcher's party store. And I just googled a photo of the Mystery Machine & tried to copy it as best as I could. I used kind of a blue green for the background - then a lime green & red for the letters. Good luck & thank you for reading Honey I'm Home!
