10 Great Places to Host a Wedding Dinner in the Salt Lake City Area

I am thrilled to announce that my dear son Jeff is getting married.  As I've made plans, there are certain types of articles that would have been helpful to me. So . . . as we go I will share things that I hope will be helpful to others who are planning a wedding.

We are hosting a wedding dinner for about 100 people. The following are the places we considered holding it. {I only considered facilities where we didn't have to bring in our own caterers.}

1 - The Old Meetinghouse. This is the place we chose. My friend's mom owns it {hi Pam!} & their delicious food is cooked fresh each day. It's a historic building with lots of charm. They can also host the actual wedding or the reception. It is moderately priced. I'm excited to tell you more about it later!

2 - The Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Downtown SLC. I've been to many dinners & events at the JSB & I ADORE it. My favorites are the Empire room {bottom floor} & the Wasatch Room {on the 10th Floor}. You can get great food & a beautiful atmosphere at a moderate price. Lots of rooms to choose from, but very popular - book early!

3 - The Lion House. Downtown SLC. Another historic place I love.  Great food at a moderate price. But reserve early! It's a small building & they book up fast.

4 - Log Haven. Millcreek Canyon. If you're up for a splurge, this facility may be the place for you. It sits on 40 acres of gorgeousness. But it's about double the price of options 1-3.

5 - The Gathering Place - at Gardner Village, West Jordan. Moderately priced. The atmosphere is rustic & charming. They can host a crowd & the food is decent.

6 - Millcreek Inn - Millcreek Canyon. Another gorgeous venue with trees & nature. As you can imagine, all that beauty will cost you!

7 - Aspen Landing - Taylorsville. I haven't ever been, but it has been recommended to me. They also host receptions. Another moderately priced choice.

8 - The Blue Lemon - Highland. I love the food at this local favorite & would have strongly considered having our event there, but the location didn't wo

rk out for us.

9 - Market Street Grill - Cottonwood. Beautiful atmosphere & yum-my food! I've been to receptions on the patio & it is so lovely. Pricey though!

10 - The Grand America - This five diamond hotel the most expensive - & the nicest on my list. For roughly the price of a car, you can have an unforgettable event there. The ground floor room that opens up onto a patio would be my choice. Just sayin'.
