Vintage Linens

Pin It!
Fettish, obsession - call it what you will,
I think vintage linens are the bee's knees . . .

To share some of my sheets & pillowcases with you,
I put them on a clothesline
where I thought they'd be at home.
{PS - When I was a girl it was often by job to hang the
clothes on the line or to take them off. I miss how
the sunshine & fresh air made the linens smell!}

I've been collecting vintage linens for a little while now.
I'm especially fond of them if they look like they are
from the 1950's, 60's or 70's.

Etsy & the thrift store are great sources to buy them.

{I found the "impostors" on the bottom right of the collage
at D.I. for $1 each. They are actually Tommy Hilfiger,
& I love their vintage look.}

It's fun to mix & match the patterns.

But I don't buy fitted sheets because mattresses have
become much thicker since decades past.

I love to mix them with my quilts . . .

This beautiful quilt is very old & was
hand sewn by my grandmother Gracie.

What do you like to collect?

  1. Such beautiful linens indeed.
    Whatever evokes the memories and peacefulness of our spirits, is all that is necessary

  3. ha ha, yes Michelle, I'll collect all the beautiful grandchilren that my kids are willing to give me. In fact, I am getting a new little boy in July. That is exciting, and I was thrilled to hear it will be a boy, as my son wants to name him after Matthew, the son who passed away.
    Oh.....I do collect Ladybugs. Kinda weird, but I love them. (not REAL ladybugs)

  4. I've been searching for some vintage linens at the thrift the last few times I've been in. When you say you don't buy the fitted, do you just buy those new... or do you use the flats in a larger size and tuck 'em really well? I'm just curious because my foam mattress is SUPER thick! I'm going to redouble my efforts now and let you know what I find! Thanks for the inspiration! xoxo jules

    1. Darling Jules, I like to pair the flat sheets with a plain, white or solid fitted sheet {that fits today's mattresses}. But I use more pillowcases with plain sheets than anything. Please do let me know if you find any vintage linens!

      Warmly, Michelle
