A Contemporary Guest Room

Pin It!
I'm currently working for a client
whose favorite design style is contemporary.

We just finished the guest bedroom.
{I say "we" because any room I decorate is a
collaborative effort with the homeowner.}

I love the way it turned out because it reminds me
of a classy & comfy room at a nice hotel.

 Isn't this a beautiful bed?  We found it on Overstock.
We chose bedding {from Kohl's} which is very tailored
because my client likes clean lines.

A challenge with using a contemporary design is that
it can have a tendency to feel cold.
One way to warm it up is to use texture
for instance, these pretty lamps {also from Kohl's}.
Or this fluffy throw . . .
{By the way, I try to always put a small chair in a guest room
where one can sit to put on their shoes, lay clothes on, etc.}
I always recommend a "jumping off place"
when designing a room.
For this project, we began with two contemporary canvases
my client already had & built a room around them . . .

  1. I too, love a contemporary feel... so I am CRAZY about this room. Oh those pops of red just SING! You're awesome. Really good reminder about Kohls, too. I always forget about that place.

    1. Great to hear from you Valerie. Most of us do have more of an eclectic style - which is great! It has a tendency to feel homey.
