Deciding on a Color for a Front Door

Recently, one of my clients remodeled her house.
Most of the budget was spent on the inside,
but she wanted to paint her front door as well.

PicMonkey {a free on-line photo editing site}
has a new overlay tool & an eraser that
works a lot like "Photoshop for Dummies".

So, I went to work to get a vision of what
different colors would look like on her house.

Here's what I came up with.
Some of these doors came with some nifty
architectural details that really make a difference too!
I also recommended they give the shutters a fresh
coat of paint.

The red looked pretty good . . .
But the green was a bit too bright, I thought . . .
Still not right . . .
I was dying to try a yellow . . .
But I think the blue-grey was my favorite . . .

  1. I'm with you on the blue/grey... but that yellow is just a burst of sunshine, isn't it? I've been thinking about painting my door a fun yellow. I started with just the bench to see if THAT was the color pop my house was missing, and I think that did the trick. Thanks for the great picmonkey tip! xoxo jules

    1. Hey Jules, Make sure to blog about it if you paint your door! I'd like to see it.

      Warmly, Michelle

  2. OOOOH I love the YELLOW for that POP of welcome!

  3. I am always drawn to a red door, but I like all of them except the green.

  4. i love the yellow. im also thinking about my front door and it didnt even occur to me to use picmonkey! thanks for reminding me about what these cool tools can do.

  5. wow, a colored door certainly can make a statement. It says to me that there is ENERGY behind those doors.....and some sense of whimsey as well.
Last year I painted our white door, a teal match the ceiling that covers our porch. It turned out great.

  6. I like the same one you do, doors really do make a different. Thanks so much for showing us how! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration with Sunday’s Best – you helped make the party a success!
