What's Cookin'? Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Around here, we rarely make any other kind of cookie . . . they're THAT good!

 Here's the recipe {scroll down for the printable recipe}. . .

Chocolate Chunk Cookies

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 cups flour
  • 4 cups oatmeal
  • 4 Hershey candy bars, broken into chunks
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cream butter, sugars, & eggs well. Add dry ingredients--oatmeal last. If dough still looks too moist, add a little more flour. Hand mix in chocolate chips & chocolate bars. (You can add walnuts, but my sons don't like them--so we usually don't.) Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 12 minutes. If you brown them they will be crunchy or you can under-bake them if you want them to be softer. WE LIKE THEM CRUNCHY!  This recipe makes a lot - about 4 dozen cookies, I think. (But you know me--I never count anything!) Ha ha!

{The recipe card below is a free printable.}

Happy cooking!   Warmly, Michelle

  2. My goodness, they look so delicious! Thanks for visiting my blog today, Michelle. That's great your son serving in Manchester. We lived there for a while. I grew up around Hale and Altrincham, and my hubby grew up in Wythenshawe--both places your son might know about. We attended Manchester South Ward in the Manchester Stake House. Still keep in touch with friends from there.
