Ain't it Nifty? I Made it to Fifty!

I used to be a bit of a wimp about hitting birthday milestones.
Thirty? Horrid! Forty? Unbearable!

Then a loved one helped me with a
"paradigm shift".
This special someone is a two-time breast cancer survivor.
She taught me that
each year of life is a celebration!
So my dear "Sis" helped me do just that.
{Disclaimer: my actual birthday is in December,
but we didn't have time to get together until now!}

Sis made me QUEEN FOR THE DAY.

We started out with Cheesecake Factory.
{And loved our dulce de leche cheesecake so much
we went back for more the next day - plus we had a
strawberry frappuccino - please don't judge.}
Then we were off for a day of "retail therapy".
If you've ever been to Las Vegas, you know they
have the BEST shopping!
{And despite my protests, Sis provided the cash
with notes like "you have 50 minutes to spend this $50". WHAT?!}
- If the crown fits . . .trying on tiaras at Charming Charlie's -

We enjoyed the beautiful Tivoli Village . . .

We especially loved a little shop called
Charming Charlie's where all the merchandise
is organized by color . . .
The prices were awesome & we found some great accessories.
- Darling Sis in her new hat -

Thank you for indulging me while I reminisced about the
Best. Day. Ever!

- Thrilled when we saw this license plate on the car in front of us -

Thank you Dear Sis - YOU are the best gift.

PS - "Sis" is actually my sister-in-law, but she couldn't mean more to me if we were blood-related. We say we're
"Sis's from another Mrs."

    First of all, Happy Birthday!!!
    You don't look even close to 50.
    Not even close to 40.
    But you are definitely making 50 less scary for me in almost 7 years.
    Second, you have an amazing sister.
    AHMAAAAZING.
    I love the queen for a day idea and I may just have to use that on a special female in my life someday.
    Big hugs, my friend!!!!!

  9. Now that is about as great of a 50th birthday bash there is I'd say. What a great day. And oh my, all that delicious food (not judging)
    Funny how each decade kiinda makes us quiver a little bit ...about entering a new decade.
    When I turned 60 I was totally OK with it. Kinda excited (sorta)
    but....last year turning 61 was a bummer. I was like. Oh man, I'm diving into the 60's and that's just getting older.
    But, as you mentioned, we must embrace life, as we never know how long we get.

    1. Well Wendy, we can all only HOPE to look half as good as you do at 60. {ESPECIALLY if "no botox is allowed"}. You are an inspiration to me of how true beauty endures.

  13. Charming Charlie is one of my favorite stores! It kills me that there isn't one in Utah. Although, my wallet is fine with it...
