And Now the Rest of the . . . Restroom

In my last entry,
I talked about a store bathroom
(or "loo" as my British readers would say)
that I've been redecorating on a shoestring.

My best advice for making a big impact
in ANY room
with very little money is . . . . PAINT!

Behold the POWER OF PAINT!

These shelves were raw wood when I began
the project. A fresh coat of white made them feel
fresh & clean.

AND I really love this soft minty-green color
(Sherwin-Williams "Lime Granita") on the walls
(see the photo below for the previous yellow color).

I also painted these green bins (the color is
Rust-Oleum "Green Apple" spray paint).
They were damaged store merchandise, so I was
able to prime & paint over the "baby" message on them
to suit the storage needs of the room.

Another inexpensive way to add whimsey & drama:
tissue paper pop-poms!
Click here to learn how to make them.

The store already had the tissue paper on hand.
It is used to wrap their customer's packages,
so this was free to make!
I spray-painted a paper lantern that was in the
clearance section to add to the grouping.
I hung everything with fishing line &
white, flat tacks that matched the ceiling.

There was not space
or funding for a new light fixture,
so the pom poms made the
 industrial fixture look more fun.

This white shelf got a fresh coat of paint
& a pretty pink purse that is for sale at the store.

These lotion & room spray testers were just sitting in the
storage room waiting to fit in with our decor & serve a purpose
as well!

I love this framed lady silhouette,
don't you?
It was free! The silhouette is from a Kraft-Maid kitchen ad
I found in a decor magazine (she had a kitchen behind her).
I cut it out & put scrapbook paper (that we already had on hand)
behind her. It's perfect!

The cabinet had a drab & worn wood finish--
just begging for . . . hot pink!

(The little wrought iron table is empty so that ladies will have
a place to set their purse.)

In the next post, I'll show the changes
I made to doll up the builder's grade mirror . . .
